Founded in 2002, the PING Elite Players Tour’s is the largest Junior Golf Tour based in Maryland. Our mission has remained the same–offer quality competition on premium courses at affordable rates to skilled male and female junior golfers in the Mid Atlantic Region–and while doing so give back to the Community. Last year 97% of our operating budget was disbursed back to the Community and Members and we awarded over $ 5,800 in Scholarships, Awards and Charitable Donations. The EPJGT tour is run by two highly respected volunteers and current High School Golf coaches, John Harris who has coached MIAA Glenelg Country School for the last 12 years and long time Anne Arundel County Golf Coach Bruce Bowen currently at Severn and Key School. Director of Women’s Golf Chelsea Harris was a 4 year D1 Women’s Division Golfer and two time EPJGT Player of the Year.
The summer program typically consists of a dozen or more one-day tournaments which offer play against large and talented fields in all divisions. We also host Spring and Fall events and our host courses include The Naval Academy, Crofton Country Club, Towson Golf & Country Club, Timbers of Troy, Lake Presidential and other premium courses in the region. The EPJGT staff works hard insuring our courses are of high quality and affordable. Membership to our tour is $125 which enables Juniors to play at reduced fees in any or all of our events as well as establish eligibility for end of year awards and our Tour Championship held annually at the prestigious Bulle Rock Golf Course.
One of the benefits of membership is that the EPJGT is in frequent contact with college golf coaches in the region regarding our members and their skills. Last year we had a record number of College and High School Golf Coaches personally visit many of our tournaments and our it is not unusual for these coaches to contact us about recruits and who we have that fits their needs. Ex-members have played or play for Wake Forest, University of Maryland, United States Naval Academy, Loyola, Towson University, James Madison University, University of Tampa, William & Mary, Tulane, McDaniel College, Trinity, Mount St Mary’s, High Point, and many more. In fact over 110 of our players have graduated to the College Ranks.
All players must adhere to the Tour Policies and Rules as stated within our website. Our end of year Championship is by invitation only and invitees will be determined by number of points earned during the course of the season and their standing in their particular division. The Player of the Year Award will be determined by finish in the Tour Championship and number of points earned during the season. The cost of each regular event is typically between $55 and $65. Each event often offers a complimentary snack or free use of the driving range. Members twelve years of age and older play 18 hole events, and all others play 9 hole events. Qualified younger players have the option of playing 18 holes.
