Arnold, MD (11-12-05) – The Elite Players Tour Junior Division today announced the winners of the 2005 Elite Players Tour Educational Scholarship. The tour awarded seven scholarships for a total amount of $5,000 to Diana Woodall, Annapolis, MD, Kelly Lynch, Severna Park, MD, Scott Senerius, Annapolis, MD, Brice Busse, Annapolis, MD, Anne Wooton, Baltimore, MD, Andrew Wiley, Calverton, MD, Louis Chaparro, Landover, MD, and Ryan Sapp, Leonardtown, MD. The winners were presented with their awards at a reception at the Hyatt Regency River Marsh Resort in Cambridge, Maryland. To be eligible the individual must be a member of the Elite Players Tour and be entering their junior year or higher in the fall of 2005. The tour awards the scholarship to skilled male and female scholar athletes as selected by the Elite Players Tour Scholarship committee. The individuals selected best represent the tour in academic achievement, character, and golf accomplishments. “We are excited and grateful to contribute to the college education of several very deserving members of our tour. These skilled junior golfers represent the very best in golf skills, academic high achievement, and community service," said Mark Tomchik, President of the Elite Players Tour. Additional events will be held at Renditions, Crofton Country Club, South River Golf Club, Glen Dale Country Club, Pine Ridge Golf Course, The Uplands Golf Club, Timbers at Troy, Prospect Bay Country Club, and Marlton Golf Club. “The Elite Players Tour is excited about our 2005 schedule. The tour awarded two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to Rachel Hiskey of Annapolis, MD and Chip Hardie of Arnold, MD. To be eligible to receive the scholarship, the member must be entering 11th grade or higher in the fall of 2004. The tour awards the scholarship to one male and one female member as selected by the Elite Players Tour Scholarship committee. The individuals selected best represent the tour in academic achievement, character, and golf accomplishments. The Elite Players Tour recently held a silent auction fundraiser at its Tour Championship on August 10, 2004 at Hunters Oak Golf Club in Queenstown, MD. The IJGT has agreed to extend exemptions to the top finishers in our end of season and invitation only Tour Championship. The exemptions will be for three events during their upcoming season to include a fall and spring event at Hershey Resort as well as a November tournament in Williamsburg, Virginia. The tour will consist of twelve events that will be held on quality courses in the area. The tour will be recruiting players from age eight to eighteen who have a high level of interest in the game of golf, with a special emphasis on recruiting the top public and private high school players. “There are few competitive events for junior golfers in the Maryland, Northern Virginia, and District of Columbia region outside of the limited high school schedule and club events”, stated Professional Golfer and co-founder / Director of Golf, Pete Regala, Jr. “Junior golfers need experience in competitive events in order to improve their game and gain the confidence required to execute quality shots under competitive pressure. The Elite Players Tour today announced that the IJGT has agreed to issue exemptions to the September IJGT event in Hershey, PA to the top Elite Players Tour members competing in their end of season Tour Championship. Exemptions will be offered to male and female winners and runner-ups in the older divisions and the winners in the younger divisions.
